"I have used several of your publications for Stephen Ministry continuing education. I am finding all of them very practical and they are good reminders of the nuts and bolts of simply listening and not saying too much and when you say anything, making sure it’s helpful. Thanks again for this wonderful resource." Rev. Gatlin, Associate Pastor, Covenant United Methodist Church, Dothan, AL |
About the Site

When friends and family are sick or bereaved, it’s hard to know what to say or do. Comforting Words provides simple ways to reach out and make a difference to those facing difficult times. You'll find accessible information on how to write sympathy notes, what to expect at visitations, funerals, and memorial services, how to be supportive, and more.
Comforting Words grew from my research for How to Say It® When You Don't Know What to Say, currently available in volumes for Illness & Death, Suicide, and Miscarriage and e-books on Death of a Child, Death of a Stillborn or Newborn Baby, Pet Loss, Caregiver Responsibilities, Job Loss and Divorce. All the editions are available in Amazon's Kindle store. Each volume has suggestions on oral, written, and nonverbal communications to help you help others navigate specific losses.
