Prior Questions

I know it's important to comfort a loved one when they experience a death. But what do you do for a pet? My niece's cat was hit by a car last month and I never did a thing. Is it too late??

It is never too late to express your sympathy and concern. Write your niece a note on a note card or use a "Thinking of you" card. Tell her how sorry you were to learn of her beloved cat's death referring to the cat by name if you can and how sad you are for her loss. Close your message by letting her know that she is in your thoughts. If you feel like doing more, ask her parents if it okay to send a copy of The Fall of Freddie the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia, a sensitive book that introduces the life cycle by way of nature.
